Nutrition Coaching for Youth Athletes

“As a parent, I felt confused about what to do to help my young son and daughter who play multiple sports. My daughter was always tired, didn’t eat much, and was losing speed on the field. My son was also starting to lose weight and my wife and I were worried as parents. Telling your kids to, “just eat more” was not working. We had been following Wendi on Twitter for a while and realized she was posting the information we needed and started applying her tips. My son started eating more at breakfast and we added in Wendi’s smoothie recipes. He began to maintain his weight. My daughter is pretty picky so it was a bit more challenging to get her to eat more. That is when we realized we were just overwhelmed with trying to read everything online and follow Wendi’s info, and it was time to contact Wendi. She responded within 2 days and immediately gave me and my wife a sense of relief like she could help us with our multi-sport athletes. We enrolled our kids in the sibling student-athlete program and Wendi found a way to get my kids on a fueling schedule that seemed to be working. They did not listen to us but they listened to her.
I am an athletic director and former athlete myself. Kids often do not want to hear from old dad but they took closely to Wendi’s coaching and guidance. I was blown away by the amount of progress they made in such a short time. Wendi advised us to get some labs done to identify what was going on with my daughter. She had low iron and progesterone, and her period was infrequent. Wendi helped her increase calories, red meat, and other options that helped. My daughter regained her period and her labs were back to normal which was such a relief for us as parents but we could also see a difference in her energy around the house and her skin color. Wendi gave each of my kids a plan, they logged their nutrition, and they could email Wendi and ask questions between sessions if they needed tips on eating out with friends or what to eat before a tournament. My wife and I had every single question answered and Wendi was so responsive to us.
Wendi cares and will clear up your problems and help your family get on a routine that makes it easier for us to function as a busy sports family. The coaching Wendi provides is the best. Her rates are worth every penny. It was also nice to be able to work with a Christian who is also a nutritionist. I knew I had to bring Wendi in to speak to our entire middle school and high school. She gave a 45-minute nutrition 101 and it was awesome. The coaches, kids, and parents in the room asked her questions and we got a copy of the slide deck and the recording from the talk. We were worried Zoom would not work but it was a great experience. We gathered everyone in the cafeteria and Wendi told us to have a microphone ready for anyone to ask questions.
Days after the presentation kids were bringing snacks to school along with their water bottles and told our strength coach they started eating breakfast! Wendi included info on sleep, recovery, how to fuel workouts, use creatine monohydrate safely, and how protein powders do not give you the same benefits real food does. It was great to hear that from her because the kids don’t listen to us. I can’t say enough good things about Wendi and what she is doing for our young athletes and coaches. She is a former college athlete and still trains hard which makes her relatable to the kids. She is a positive role model to our young girls and one of the best sports nutritionists in the field. Hire Her. Wendi and her services are worth the investment! Fundraise or use your booster funds. Do what you gotta do but you need to get her speaking to your athletes and their parents immediately. ”
